About

Russel is riding home alone when someone drops into the seat beside him, and it's Laila, someone he hasn't seen in years. A friend, a fallout, maybe more. She gets off at the next station in two minutes, and this train won't stop for the two of you again.

Between Stations is a short, dialogue-driven story about missed connections and the things we never got to say. Every word you choose spends time you don't have.

The Countdown Theme

This game was a submission for the GMTK Game Jam 2026 with the theme Countdown.

The whole ride is a countdown made visible: six lights along the car glow to life one by one as the two minutes tick away. They aren't decoration, they're the clock. When the last one lights up, the train reaches the platform whether your conversation is finished or not.

That's the twist on the theme: the countdown doesn't just end the game - it can interrupt your ending. Linger too long, hesitate at the wrong moment, and the doors open mid-sentence. The heartfelt goodbye becomes a hurried one; the confession dies in his throat; the reconciliation gets cut in half. Some chances only come once, and the clock doesn't care that you weren't ready.

What you'll find

  • Branching conversation that forks between old friendship and old love, each with its own path and tone.
  • Multiple endings depending on the choices you make — and a full set of interrupted endings for when the countdown catches you first. What you walk away with depends as much on when you say it as what you say.
  • Two languages: English and Português (Brasil), switchable from the menu.
  • Pixel-art aesthetic, with an original ambience of a train that never stops moving.

Some doors close on their own. This one closes in two minutes.
